David Hardy
| David A. Hardy is President of the International Association of
Astronomical Artists (IAAA) and has been in the field of 'space art'
since the early 1950s. |

|
After service in the RAF Hardy joined the design office of Cadbury's.
He left in 1965 to work on the film 2001 and as a freelance has
since worked for stage, film and television as well as illustrating
numerous publications in Europe and the United States. Hardy is
admired by and has collaborated with scientists and science fiction
writers alike including Patrick Moore, Arthur C Clarke, Carl Sagan
and Isaac Asimov. His own, Visions of Space is acclaimed as the
definitive book on space art. He has also produced numerous science
fiction covers, including over 50 for The Magazine of Fantasy &
Science Fiction (USA), and regularly attends, and exhibits at, SF
conventions. Hardy visits many 'alien' parts of the planet to gather
reference material and inspiration, including Iceland, Hawaii and
the Galapagos Islands. He now produces much of his work digitally
on a PowerMac G3 but still enjoys the act of physically applying
paint to canvas. His website is at http://www.hardyart.demon.co.uk
